French Alps wedding photography - Sarah and Dan (click to see more)
A few months ago I packed up my camera gear, hopped on a plane and counted down the minutes until I landed in the beautiful French Alps town of Morzine.
Nestled in the south east of France, right next to the Swiss border, Morzine is a peaceful ski town, surrounded by mountains and full of traditional chalets.
Wedding photography in the French Alps
Sarah and Dan are both from the UK and used to holiday in Morzine each year when they were children. Their paths didn’t cross though until they were both adults and had each taken a job at the Farmhouse.
The 18 months they spent out in Morzine saw them fall in love, both with each other and with the town all over again. A few years later, after they’d got engaged, they knew there was only one place for them to get married. The Farmhouse. The place they met and the town that had given them such wonderful memories throughout their lives.
They’d chosen to get married in the grounds of the Farmhouse. It was spring, but we all know that we can’t rely on the weather, even in southern France! The forecast was predicting storms and it was touch and go as to whether the outside ceremony would take place. Luckily the rain held off and the sun shone. After a few photographs with her family a smiling Sarah walked down the aisle towards Dan, who couldn’t stop grinning! I love how his face lit up as soon as he saw her.
As their guests relaxed in the sunshine I stole Dan and Sarah away for some portraits. We decided to make the most of the beautiful Farmhouse, it’s such a warm and cosy building I knew it would be perfect for some photographs of the two of them. It also meant we could take shelter from the rain that had decided to make an appearance. Luck was on Sarah and Dan’s side though. While everyone enjoyed their wedding breakfast, and some hilarious speeches, the skies began to clear again meaning they could all head back into the gardens for the cutting of their enormous cheesecake and evening celebrations.
Destination wedding photographer
I absolutely adore shooting weddings in and around Yorkshire. It means I can go home to my own bed and, more importantly, my husband and two girls. However, I take on a limited number of destination weddings per year and I just love the adventure! There’s nothing better than exploring a new country and photographing a beautiful wedding there.
Especially when the sun is shining!
If you’re looking for a destination wedding photographer then I would love to hear all about your plans. Please get in touch.
